Ge Ware (ge yao), is a type of Chinese porcelain. It makes together with Guan, Ru, Ding, Jun up the "Five Great Song Ware" for the court. Ge means "older brother" and the ware takes it's name from one of two brothers in Longquan in Song Dynasty. The elder brother(Zhang Shengyi) developed a special type of ware, it distinguished by crackled glaze as "gold thread and iron wire", and "purple mouth and iron foot". which stands for the highest firing skills and art aesthetic of porcelain in old China.
Wang Yunlong, born in Longquan, China, 1967, is the Ge Ware Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor.Wang Yunlong is one of the most representative artist in the recovery and inheritance of the Ge Ware firing technique. He completed and restored the ancient traditional formula and firing skills of Chinese Song Dynasty Ge Ware. Wang Yunlong’s works were selected into the world's first Ge Ware exhibition ——“The Palace Museum Ge Ware Exhibition in Beijing Forbidden City” And many works were collected by Museums and figures home and aboard.
