Ge ware (ge yao) is a type of celadon in Chinese pottery. It makes together with Guan, Ru, Ding, Jun up the "Five Great Song Wares". Ge means "older brother" and the ware takes its name from one of two potter Zhang brothers in Longquan, Zhejiang, in Song dynasty. The elder brother (Zhang Shengyi) developed a very special type of ware; it was distinguished by crackled glaze "golden thread and iron wire", and "purple mouth and iron foot" named Ge ware. The younger brother also developed a fine style of pottery, which was taken to be the best quality Longquan Celadon in Song dynasty.
